Tintín nació el 10 de enero de 1929, en el recién creado suplemento infantil y juvenil Le Petit Vingtième, de la mano y el genio del belga Georges Remi, Hergé (alias que resulta de pronunciar sus iniciales a la inversa, R.G.), y desde entonces ha cosechado, década a década, un éxito inconmensurable. Veinticuatro tomos de 1929 a 1976 (el último, Tintín y el Arte-Alfa, no llegó a terminarse debido al fallecimiento del autor) de los que se han vendido, se calcula, más de 200 millones de ejemplares en más de 60 idiomas, y se han convertido en objeto de culto y coleccionismo en todo el mundo. No está mal para un joven boyscout que empezó a dibujar historietas en los márgenes de sus cuadernos escolares a la temprana edad de 7 años. Pero no estamos aquí para hablar de genios precoces, ni de cifras asombrosas, sino de curiosidades sorprendentes. Por ejemplo, las numerosas influencias del cine, la sociedad, la política, la ciencia, el arte o la amistad que hacen de sus historietas verdaderas crónicas de la historia. Una costumbre que, por cierto, le ha valido a Hergé continuas críticas por sus supuestas posiciones ideológicas (racista, colonialista, machista, nazi, colaboracionista… incluso misógino. ¿Pero es que acaso tenía tiempo el pobre Tintín de buscar novia?).
