Entre otras, las novedades incluidas en esta nueva edición son: la inclusión de numerosas ilustraciones, sobre todo en el capítulo de la retina, la presentación de un panorama de la percepción subjetiva de los defectos del campo visual y de enfermedades oculares, la descripción de una nueva técnica de exploración (la tomografía de coherencia óptica) y finalmente la inclusión de una ilustración panorámica de la anatomía del ojo.

Adicionalmente, se ha mantenido la estructura de las anteriores ediciones, tanto en la elaboración de cada capítulo, el orden y la ponderación de los casos clínicos.

En la presente edición se incorpora también una tabla de síntomas cardinales y su interpretación, abundante terminología inglés y un curso de exploración en capítulo aparte para estudiantes.

Este libro se convierte en un manual y atlas ricamente ilustrado que resulta imprescindible para un conocimiento global de la oftalmología.
