Este volumen incluye, como norma básica, el texto refundido de la Ley de Propiedad Intelectual, de 12 de abril de 1996. También se recogen, entre otras, la Ley sobre el derecho de participación en beneficio del autor de una obra de arte original, de 2008, la Ley de la lectura, del libro y de las bibliotecas, de 2007, la Ley de servicios de la sociedad de la información y de comercio electrónico, de 2002, así como el número ISBN, la producción reglamentaria sobre difusión de películas y otras obras audiovisuales recogidas en soporte videográfico, control de tirada, Comisión de Propiedad Intelectual, el Reglamento del Registro General de la Propiedad Intelectual, y la regulación penal que ha dado a esta materia el Código Penal.
Además, forma parte de la obra un apartado dedicado a los Convenios Internacionales más caracterizados (el de Berna de 1886, el de Ginebra de 1952, el de Roma de 1961 y el relativo a la protección de los productores de fonogramas de 1971, así como el Acuerdo de Marrakech de 1994, que establece la Organización Mundial del Comercio).
En el apartado de Normas Comunitarias se contienen diversas Directivas Comunitarias relativas a la protección de los derechos de autor y derechos afines, programas de ordenador, bases de datos, comercio electrónico, derecho de participación en beneficio del autor de una obra de arte original y respeto de los derechos de propiedad intelectual.
